Monaco lining up £10million bid for former Marseille star.
Newcastle’s Hatem Ben Arfa has emerged as the latest high-profile target for big-spending French outfit Monaco, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Ligue 2 side are preparing for a big summer in the transfer market after winning promotion to Ligue 1, backed by their wealthy Russian owners, and have been linked with the likes of Radamel Falcao and Carlos Tevez in recent weeks.
Having already completed a double swoop on Porto for Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, it is now thought they will move next for Ben Arfa, a talented winger with a poor injury record.
Although a hit at St James’ Park when he does play, it is thought that they would be willing to sell the 26-year-old for around £10million due to the amount of time he has spent on the sidelines.
The Frenchman has been in England for three years since joining Newcastle from Marseille, and his performances have also attracted attention from other Premier League sides, such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.
It was thought that Spurs could move for him to replace Gareth Bale if he leaves for Real Madrid, though Monaco’s interest may push a deal through quickly.
