Manchester City will appoint their new manager within the next 10 days according to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

Sky Sports reports that Al Mubarak has now set a timeframe to appoint the clubs new manager.

Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini is strong favourite to take over at the Etihad and although a deal has yet to be reached with City, the Chilean strongly hinted that he will begin talks with the club next week after his contract with Malaga expires.

Al Mubarak said in an interview that “We obviously want sustainable success for this club and (picking the manager) is absolutely the most important decision for a football club.”

“We have a wonderful team running this process internally and are putting a very comprehensive process in place.

“They have created a shortlist of managers who fit that criteria and we are pretty much done. We are very close. I expect to make an appointment probably in the next two weeks.”

Pellegrini is set to take over a team that finished second in the Premier League, behind bitter rivals Manchester United. City also lost the FA Cup final to Wigan Athletic, leaving the Community Shield as the only piece of silverware that City won all season.
