Manuel Pellegrini looks set to be named Manchester City’s new boss this weekend according to Goal.com

The Chilean will fly into Manchester during the weekend to sign a contract with City before having a tour of the club’s training ground on Monday.

Pellegrini left Malaga after the last game of the Spanish season and has always been City’s number one target to replace Roberto Mancini, who was sacked after City lost the FA Cup final to underdogs Wigan.

The former Villarreal boss has only recently confirmed that he will be having talks with City despite being linked with the club for most of 2013.

Mancini’s final season at City was dogged by questions about his future as the club’s title challenge started to falter.

Pellegrini has had success in the Champions League, guiding Malaga to the quarter-finals of the Champions League despite financial problems at the club.

He has also taken former club Villarreal to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

City have been quick to make changes to their playing staff this summer, with winger Jesus Navas arriving from Sevilla and midfielder Ferdandinho making the move to City from Shaktar Donetesk.
