City in for talented Milan youngster.
Manchester City have made a big-money offer to AC Milan for young striker Stephan El Shaarawy, according to Gazetta Dello Sport.
With City looking like missing out on Napoli striker Edinson Cavani to Premier League rivals Chelsea, the club have turned their attention towards the 20-year-old Italian international, and are ready to offer Milan £34million for his services.
Widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in world football, El Shaarawy scored 19 goals for the Serie A side this season, and is dangerous playing either as a striker or out wide.
His ability and versatility will appeal to Manuel Pellegrini, who is expected to take over as manager at the Etihad Stadium, as City are in need of more attacking options after failing to win a trophy this year.
They have already secured the signing of Sevilla winger Jesus Navas, and have been linked with a whole host of other attacking players, such as Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus and Malaga’s Isco.
However, with Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko looking increasingly likely to leave the club, they are keen to land El Shaarawy as another option upfront, as Radamel Falcao ended up joining Monaco, and Cavani has held advanced talks with Chelsea.
El Shaarawy had also been linked with Arsenal in January, though City will surely have the edge in signing him now as he looks some way out of the Gunners’ price range.
