Sevilla’s president Jose Maria Del Nido has admitted that striker Alvaro Negredo will move to Manchester City, with a deal possibily being completed as early as Wednesday evening, Goal.com reports.

Manchester City have been heavily linked with a move for Negredo ever since Manuel Pellegrini took over at the Etihad and reports have suggested that the Sky Blues have been in talks with Sevilla for the past week.

Pellegrini identified Negredo as an answer to City’s attacking problems when he missed out on Edinson Cavani, who he left Napoli for Paris St Germain on Tuesday.

The Sky Blues desperately need to re-enforce their attacking options this summer as the club only have two first team strikers available at the moment.

Carlos Tevez left the Etihad for Juventus last month, leaving Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero as the only strikers available at City.

However, that will all now change, with Del Nido confirming that Negredo will move to Premier League runners-up and the Spaniard believes that the striker will be a hit at the Etihad.

“We are about to complete the sale of Negredo to City. If all goes well he will say bye this afternoon at the Sanchez Pizjuan,” he told reporters.

“City are signing a great player. For Sevilla and Negredo it is a major operation. It is the contract of his life.”
