After a long and boring summer for Newcastle fans: with the reappointment of Joe Kinnear; Cisse’s Wonga issue; the possibility of Cabaye leaving and of course, the tragedy of failing to secure any signings thus far this summer according

Now it appears Kinnear has worked his magic and is set to bring French international Loic Remy to St James’ Park on a season-long loan for £2million. At the end of the season the Magpies will have the option to buy the 26 year-old for £7million, provided he is not put away.

It is now being reported Remy will undergo his medical on Tyneside later today, which could be a case of déjà vu for many Geordies – as Remy was set for a medical in January before he snubbed them to sign for the Hoops.

The R’s were relegated to the Championship the year he joined, but he did manage six goals durning his 14 game spell in the English top flight.

Newcastle will now turn their attentions to Aston Villa forward Darren Bent and Olympique Lyonnaise striker Bafetimbi Gomis as Alan Pardew desperately tries to build on his squad that finished 5th in 2012.

Pardew faces strong competition from Fulham and Palace for former colleague Darren Bent, but only Spurs hold any interest in Gomis.

Kinnear has told SkySports he has agreed personal terms with both players but Villa want more money, and Gomis’ agent has excessive demands which have not been met by Mike Ashley’s business men so far.
