Brazilian star to visit Ukraine, but insists no deal has been completed.
In demand Atletico Mineiro forward Bernard has said that he is to visit the Ukraine this summer but has denied that any deal to take him to Shakhtar Donetsk has been completed, Sky Sports reports.
The 20-year-old is expected to head for Europe this year with the likes of Porto, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur all said to be extremely keen on bringing him on board, but the Ukrainian champions have jumped the line considerably and are now the favourites to land his signature.
Shakhtar have reportedly been testing his resolve with an increasingly tempting offer and Bernard is keen to see what it is exactly that is in store for him in Donetsk and has decided to go and see for himself, though he has insisted that he has not signed anything yet.
He told TV Alterosa: “It’s just a visit, there won’t be any medical. Nothing is certain and I won’t sign any documents.
“I made it clear to them that I would only visit so that I could see their facilities.”
Shakhtar are apparently the only club who have met the asking price set by the Brazilian club, which president Alexandre Kalil confirmed.
“Tottenham made an offer of €18million (£15.7m) for Bernard, but they withdrew,” he said.
“Arsenal told us that they would bid, but never did. So what we have now is a €25m (£21.8m) bid from Shakhtar.”
