Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has revealed that he is still keen to sign Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye but says Tottenham may also be interested according to the Daily Express.

The Ligue 1 champions have reportedly been chasing the former Lille man all summer and Blanc has now confirmed their interest while also admitting that the White Hart Lane club are also in the running for the 27-year-old.

Blanc said: “He is a very good player. I have not changed my mind (about him).

“For now, he is at Newcastle. I have also read he is in Tottenham’s plans.

“Newcastle, Tottenham or Paris – I hope he will still be at a big club in September.”

Blanc would appear to be confirm that Andre Villas-Boas has joined the race for the dynamic midfielder and the sides could now battle it out for his signature before the transfer window shuts.

His latest comments are likely to infuriate Newcastle manager Alan Pardew who has openly criticised Blanc in the past for his remarks about Cabaye.

At the time, Pardew said: “I don’t think that’s right.

“He can get on the phone to me, or make a bid. I think that’s the right way to do it.

“I think the way it’s come out isn’t perhaps respectful to Yohan.”

Cabaye, who featured 35 times last year for the St James’ Park club, is hoping to cement his place in the French team heading to Brazil in the summer and a move away from the North East could help his case.
