Arsenal had a £10 million bid for Cabaye rejected by Newcastle earlier on Monday.
Yohan Cabaye has been left out of Newcastle’s clash with Manchester City, increasing speculation that the French midfielder could be on his way out of St James’s Park, Goal.com reports.
The midfielder had been the subject of a £10 million bid from Arsenal earlier in the day.
That bid was rejected by Newcastle, who reiterated their desire to keep Cabaye at the club and also said that the bid was well below their valuation of the Frenchman.
It is expected that Arsenal will return with a new bid for Cabaye in the coming days while Manchester United and Paris St Germain are also thought to be interested in the 27 year old.
Arsenal’s bid could just be the first of many bids that could come in for the Frenchman, with a bidding war possibly taking place between the interested clubs.
Cabaye had been expected to start in Newcastle’s opening game of the Premier League season and his absence will increase the speculation surrounding his future.
Manchester City have fielded two of their new summer signings for the clash with the Magpies, naming Fernandinho and Jesus Navas in their starting line-up.
