Attack

Coutinho – A real gem of a player, the Brazilian will sadly miss tonight’s game through injury, though he is certainly the kind of quality playmaker that David Moyes desperately tried to sign for so much of this summer. With his technique and passing, Coutinho is a perfect ‘number 10’ player who can go on to be a star for club and country for many years to come, and would surely shine in this attacking midfield trio.

Wayne Rooney – Although Rooney would probably rather be right up front with Robin van Persie, the England international can also do a fine job just behind the main striker, and may have to settle for that spot in this lineup, with too many talented attacking players between these sides to find an obvious way of fielding them all!

Luis Suarez – Another player who would rather be upfront, particularly after running van Persie close for the Golden Boot last season (an accolade he might well have won if not for his stupidity in biting Branislav Ivanovic and landing himself a ten-match ban), Luis Suarez has the ability to trouble defenders from a wide-left position as well, and could find himself with freedom to roam and swap around with Coutinho and Rooney in this exciting-looking attacking trio.

Robin van Persie – Top scorer for two seasons in a row and a strong contender to be so again this season, van Persie is probably the best striker in the Premier League at the moment, and though he also seems set to miss tonight’s game, he spear-heads a fine-looking attacking lineup here. Daniel Sturridge is desperately unlucky to miss out after his fine start to the season, and of course the likes of Victor Moses, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez show what kind of depth in quality these two sides both enjoy.
