Dempsey could make quick return to Premier League.
Former Tottenham and Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey is being linked with a surprise return to both his former clubs on loan this January, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 30-year-old only left White Hart Lane this summer after spending just one season with the club, having previously made a name for himself as a top talent in his six years with Fulham, where he scored 60 goals from midfield.
Now back in the USA with Seattle Sounders, Dempsey may be available for three months during the MLS close-season, and several players have made similar moves back to European football in the past.
Everton, who are also keen on Dempsey, have previously enjoyed the services of Landon Donovan in two seperate loan spells from LA Galaxy, while Arsenal legend Thierry Henry also made a brief comeback for his old club with a short loan spell in 2012.
David Beckham also spent two notable spells on loan with Italian giants AC Milan during his time with LA Galaxy, and Dempsey could be the latest big name to find a new club during the MLS break.
Tottenham are surprise contenders for his signature, given that the American international was seen as under-performing for the side, but he may yet get a second chance to prove himself at White Hart Lane.
