Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has played down reports that he is set to leave the club next summer by taking to social media networking site Twitter to reassure fans that the news is pure speculation, talkSPORT reports.

Earlier this week former City striker Rodney Marsh said that he feared for the Ivorian’s future at the Etihad by saying that he seemed unhappy at the club and could look to move on at some point in the near future.

Although City have already reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, their domestic form is faltering and they currently sit in ninth place in the Premier League table, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.

People close to Manchester City tell me Yaya Toure is not very happy and he’s one of their great players,” Marsh said.

“When you start to hear rumblings from within the camp, and you see the way Toure played last weekend [at Sunderland], when he was strolling around and didn’t look interested, I’m wondering now if it will all go a little bit the other way.

However, Toure took to Twitter to set the record straight and reassure fans that he is happy at the club and not looking to make a swift departure.

“Hey buddies, don’t listen to the rumors [sic], I’m happy at city..the Toure brothers are in Casa and are missing Manchester,” he said.
