Tottenham have placed a £6.5m price-tag on striker Jermain Defoe amid growing interest in the England forward according to The Times.

The 31 year old forward has started just one Premier League fixture this season and will no doubt be concerned that a lack of first team football could hamper his hopes of being part of Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup finals squad and genuine interest from both QPR and West Ham may now tempt the experienced attacker.

Though Defoe has been underused in Premier League action this term he has still managed to net nine goals in seven appearances in the Europa League and Capital One Cup and is certainly a player still able to make an impact in the English top tier, so interest from his former boss Harry Redknapp at Championship side QPR may well fail to catch his interest.

A return to Upton Park however may be the ideal move for Defoe to consider and Hammers boss Sam Allardyce could sorely do with a proven forward to provide his side with a real cutting edge up front.

West Ham have scored just nine goals in 11 Premier League fixtures and with Andy Carroll still out of action and with little other effective options up front Defoe could be the perfect January transfer window addition for the East London club.
