Central defender still seems certain to quit the big-spending north-west giants at the end of this campaign though.
Manchester City head coach Manuel Pellegrini does not want to sell out-of-favour defender Joleon Lescott during the January transfer window, despite strong interest in the Englishman’s services from Turkish giants Besiktas, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The centre back has once again largely found himself surplus to requirements at Eastlands so far in this campaign, and with Lescott’s contract now set to run out on June 30 2014, the player will be available to buy on a free transfer come the end of the season.
And that means that the occasional England international can start opening discussions with foreign-based clubs about his next port call now that the January transfer window has finally reopened for business.
“We are negotiating with Manchester City over defender Joleon Lescott,” said Besiktas director Ahmet Kavalci.
However, despite the mega-rich Premier League outfit still wanting to offload Lescott when his deal expires in the summer, the Blues do not want to lose his services before that point though, with Pellegrini keen to have as many defensive options available to him as is possible with the club still challenging for trophies on as many as four fronts between now and the end of the campaign.
