Upton Park side to boost attack.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has received the backing of the Upton Park board to make moves to bring in two striking talents according to the Daily Mirror.
The Hammers are closing in on a move to lure Nikica Jelavic to East London, with the Croatian struggling to fight his way back into Roberto Martinez’s first team starting line-up after a poor start to the season.
Romelu Lukaku has been performing heroically leading the Toffees line and Martinez can call upon Scot Steven Naismith as back-up and with Jelavic keen to secure regular first team football ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals a move to West Ham may well suit the former Rangers man.
Allardyce will also look to sign former Sunderland man Asamoah Gyan, who is currently at UAE side Al Ain, and has apparently given up on moves to capture Southampton’s Rickie Lambert.
West Ham have been without the services of club record signing Andy Carroll for the entire season and had to re-sign Carlton Cole in order to boost their ailing attack.
