The highly rated 22 year old French international is being tracked by a number of clubs with AS Monaco thought to be the most likely side to challenge Manuel Pellegrini in pursuit of the young centre-back.
Though Man City have found scoring goals easy enough this term they have perhaps seemed shaky at the back so one can understand why Pellegrini would look to strengthen his defence, especially as Joleon Lescott is likely to leave the club with his current deal set to come to a close in the summer.
Pellegrini may see Mangala as an ideal partner for skipper Vincent Kompany, with young Serbian Matija Nastasic being a long term option and veteran Martín Demichelis at 33 years of age clearly being a shorter term option.
Mangala has helped FC Porto to back to back domestic titles in his two seasons at the Primeira Liga club and appears set to be the latest player the Portuguese side are ready to cash-in on.
