Newcastle United are to make a move for Man City defender Micah Richards with Alan Pardew concerned he may see right-back Mathieu Debuchy lured away to PSG according to the Daily Mirror.

Richards has started just two Premier League fixtures this season and may be tempted by a move to St James’ Park where he may have a better shot at securing regular first team football.

Richards was a big hit when he first emerged as a Man City regular, earning regular England caps early in his career, but injuries and average form have seen the Birmingham born defender become something of a bit-part player in the last couple of years.

Pardew is also concerned Argentine centre-back Fabricio Coloccini could leave the club and may well have need for Richards in a central defensive role, which the Man City man is more than capable of filling.

Saint-Etienne teenager Kurt Zouma is another apparent Magpies target to this end.
