The Argentine has apparently become unsettled at the club as recent poor results have threatened to derail their Premier League title push, as well as see them crash out of both the Champions League and the FA Cup in quick succession.
The recent defeat to Wigan Athletic particularly highlighted problems within the club’s dressing room and he said to be unhappy that this season has been the first in three attempts to see them make their way out of the group stages of the Champions League, only to see them limp out at the hands of Barcelona.
He has been linked with a return to La Liga with both Real Madrid and Barcelona said to be keeping an eye on his situation. The 25-year-old is not set to hold the club to ransom by forcing through a move, but the club may be persuaded to accept an offer should one that matches their valuation come along.
“There’s been concern from a number of senior players about our progress, particularly in the Champions League,” a City source said.
“Aguero is one who could be keen to move on, and we know from before that the likes of Real and Barcelona are interested in him.”
