The north-west giants have been keeping close tabs on the young Argentinian shit stopper of late as new head coach Manuel Pellegrini prepares to bring a new shot stopper to Eastlands this summer after losing confidence in England international Joe Hart.

And with the experienced Chilean also understood to be offloading back-up keeper Costel Pantilimon as well, City have been busy scoring the market recently in the search for a new No 1 for the next campaign, with the club said to have been impressed with the 21-year-old Estudiantes star.

Rulli, who has also been attracting the attentions of European heavyweights such as FC Barcelona, FC Porto and Atletico de Madrid, recently set a new club record back in his homeland after going for six and a half games without letting in a goal.

The player only recently broke into the Argentinian giants’ first team, with Rulli having since managed to appear in a total of 31 matches for the club.
