Etihad Stadium side target White Hart Lane star.
Man City are preparing a summer bid for Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen according to Football Direct News.
Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini will look to Belgian Vertonghen to line-up alongside his fellow countryman Vincent Kompany at hte heart of the Man City defence, a move that may well tempt the 26 year old White Hart Lane star.
Vertonghen has previously stated his desire to be competing at Champions League level and as that dream is looking unlikely to be fulfilled at Tottenham then a move to Man City may prove very tempting.
Such a move would call into question the futures of veteran Argentine Martin Demichelis and young Serb Matija Nastasic, whilst Joleon Lescott is likely to leave Man City in the summer when his contract expires.
Vertonghen joined Tottenham in July 2012 and has already racked 81 appearances for the North London club.
