The Belgian is a crucial member of Manuel Pellegrini’s back-line and is not a player the Etihad Stadium boss would consider offers for and it’s not immediately clear why the 28 year old would consider such a move.

Clearly AS Monaco can offer Kompany a massive tax free wage but you’d imagine that the City man is being well compensated at his current Premier League club, who he joined back in August 2008.

Claudio Ranieri looks set to secure a second place finish in Ligue 1 and will have Champions League football back at the Stade Louis II and as such should be able to atract some big names if they wish though Kompany may be an overly ambitious target to pursue.
