The former Aston Villa man is said to be interesting Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, but City are hoping to be able to keep him at the club and have been told that if they can make an improved offer on his current £75,000 a week deal then he will stay.
Milner has made a solid contribution to the side this season, making 27 appearances for City as they continue to challenge for the Premier League title.
Boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to hold onto the player and it’s likely he will be offered a new three year deal.
However, that won’t be enough to stop Rodgers from testing the water with a serious bid of their own as the manager looks to add to his own title credentials for next season.
Milner will be looking to keep his options open, though, but City are said to be keen to sort a new deal out before the World Cup kicks off in June.
