Tottenham Hotspur are set to finally make their move for highly rated young Southampton head coach Mauricio Pochettino next week, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The Saints hierarchy had been hoping to be able to persuade the Argentinian to stay put at St Mary’s next season, however, it is now understood that the south-coast club have been unable to do so, despite several meetings with Pochettino recently to convince him of the club’s ambitions going forward.
But with Southampton set to offload star men such as Luke Shaw to Manchester United for £27m and skipper Adam Lallana to Liverpool for £22m this summer, it is believed that Pochettino now does not feel that he can take Southampton forward in the next campaign or better their stunning eighth-place finish under him from the previous campaign.
And as a result, Pochettino is to now accept Spurs’ offer to replace the recently sacked Tim Sherwood in the White Hart Lane dugout this summer on a salary of £3m a year, although the 42-year-old will be forced to pay his current employers £2m out of his own pocket for not seeing out the final 12 months of his deal with the club.
