The defensive midfielder’s current contract at Eastlands runs out at the end of June, so meaning that Barry will be available to pick up on lucrative Bosman-style free transfer for any club interested in the player’s services.
However, initially it was thought most likely that Barry would move to either Everton, who the 33-year-old spent a season-long loan at in the previous campaign, or Arsenal, with the Gunners known to be on the look out themselves for a new water carrier for next season to take over from Mikel Arteta.
But with both those two interested suitors said to only be offering Barry a contract worth £50,000 per week to join them, and the Hammers believed to be preparing a deal worth £65,000 per week to move to Upton Park, the player now has a tough choice to make regarding his future.
