Hull City boss Steve Bruce is readying an ambitious move to sign Man City bit-part player Micah Richards according to the Daily Mirror.

The 25 year old England man has been treading water at the Etihad Stadium for a couple of seasons now and is rarely used by Manuel Pellegrini, being selected for just two Premier League starts last season, and a move to the KC Stadium could help to re-ignite his flagging career.

Bruce is ready to make a club record £8m offer for the adaptable defender and will be able to offer Richards the regular first team action he so badly needs.

Richards burst onto the scene way back in 2005 and the early stages of his career showed much promise but Man City’s pursuit of world class signings in every position on a near annual basis has certainly held back the Birmingham born battler’s progress.

Hull City had a strong Premier League season last term and despite their 16th place finish Bruce’s side were never really in danger of the drop and the club’s FA Cup run to the final, which they lost narrowly to Arsenal, is further proof of the club’s potential.
