Check in to Uruguay vs England

Former Uruguayan international Gus Poyet has warned England that his countrymen will go to any lengths in order to secure victory when the two sides meet in Group D this month, according to the Metro.

Suarez has earned himself quite a reputation in England for his showmanship, and the Black Cats boss believes the Liverpool star will be at his best for the encounter between the two country’s on 19th June.

“You need to pay extra attention to Suarez,” Poyet said.

‘We will do whatever it is, to stop you, to win the game. We are proud of that.”

Suarez earned himself some heavy criticism during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa after he was red carded for handling the ball on the line against Ghana, and Poyet has insisted that it could happen again versus England.

“For you, a handball on the goal-line is cheating – it is not for us. You take it as a last-man red card, but it’s not for us, it’s part of the game.”

However, Suarez is still in a race to be fit to take on England and could miss Uruguay’s opening game against Costa Rica as he struggles to overcome a knee injury.
