Check in to England vs Italy

Having finally signed a player, Tenerife forward Ayoze Perez being the Magpies first permanent signing in over a year, Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is now setting his sights on Burnley striker Danny Ings according to the Daily Star.

Pardew is keen to beef up an attack that has seen Loic Remy return to QPR, Luuk de Jong move back to Borussia Monchengladbach and Shola Ameobi having been released.

The St James’ Park side had said to be interested in Leeds United ace Ross McCormack but have turned their attention to England Under 21 international Ings.

Ings has just a year to run on his Clarets deal and could be available for a fraction of his real value and having scored 26 goals last season the signs are that the former Bournemouth man is a player with a great deal of potential.

Pardew will hope for a decent level of transfer funding this summer after securing a solid, if unspectacular, top half finish last term, a season that would have perhaps ended far better had Mike Ashley not elected to cash in on Yohan Cabaye in January.
