White Hart Lane side want St Mary’s defensive rock.
Tottenham are ready to table a £15m bid for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren according to the Metro.
Former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to solidify the leaky White Hart Lane defence he has inherited and a move for rock solid Croatian Lovren makes a great deal of sense, though Liverpool are also said to be tracking the 24 year old.
The uncompromising centre-back had a great debut season but could be tempted by a move ‘up’ and the chance to instantly reunite with Pochettino may be one that the former Lyon man is ready to consider.
Liverpool are said to have made a £12m offer for Lovren and though the St Mary’s side would be loathed to lose any of their star turns they may have no option other than to cash-in on the defender if he signals his intention to leave.
Tottenham conceded more goals than any other side in the top eight last term and arguably this all but ended the north London club’s hopes of securing a top four finish and Lovren is certainly capable of helping to shore up the Spurs defence.
