Newcastle United, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are all interested in bringing AS Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere to the Premier League.
Newcastle United are the favourites to secure the £7 million signing of AS Monaco forward Emmanuel Riviere, according to the Daily Star, but face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.
The Magpies are on the hunt for a new forward after French international Loic Remy returned to Queens Park Rangers following his loan spell at St. James’ Park last season, whilst Alan Pardew also opted to release long-serving centre forward Shola Ameobi after his contract at the club came to an end.
The 24 year-old enjoyed a good season for Monaco, getting into double figures as the club finished as runners-up on their first season back in Ligue 1, but there is a feeling that the Martinique-born player may find himself overtaken by young star Anthony Martial, as well as any big-name signing that the club bring in to compliment Falcao as he returns from injury.
Other Premier League clubs such as Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion have been mentioned as potential suitors for the former Toulouse and St. Etienne man, but Newcastle’s track record of bringing players into the Premier League from Ligue 1 well may be what gives them the upper hand in the chase for Riviere.
