Southampton have apparently seen a £10m bid for Tottenham winger Andros Townsend turned down according to the Daily Express.

St Mary’s boss Ronald Koeman has seen a number of his squad leave since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino and will look to buck the trend by using funds from those sales to help strengthen his squad.

Surprisingly perhaps the offer is not one the White Hart Lane side are willing to accept for the England international.

The 23 year old started just 12 Premier League fixtures last term and was alarming inconsistent, at times outstanding for club and country but on other occasions wildly ineffective.

On the subject of Townsend the Spurs boss has recently stated;

“Townsend is another player, he is in the squad,”

“He is an important player, he is a player for the English national team.

QPR are also keen

QPR are also thought to be interested in the 23-year-old with Harry Redknapp reportedly preparing a bid despite having an enquiry rebuffed by Spurs.

Townsend started yesterday’s 1-0 win against West Ham on the bench but was brought on in the 61st minute as a replacement for Aaron Lennon.

He broke into Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions set up last term before a drop in form and an ankle injury saw him miss the World Cup.
