The 27-year-old has failed to cement a first team place under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, making just a single start in the Premier League this season.

This has prompted Al Ahli to attempt to bring the English winger in, with regular game time and wages of up to £3m per year thought to be an attractive proposition.

Unlike in the Premier League the transfer window in the UAE doesn’t close until Thursday, so there is still time to complete the switch if a deal can be agreed. It seems however that Tottenham have no intention of letting Lennon leave, and the player himself has, as of yet, not spoken about the move either.

This is Lennon’s tenth season at White Hart Lane, the winger having scored 26 goals in 261 appearances for the club. If he is unneeded by Spurs then £5.5 million would be a good return on the player they brought in from Leeds in 2005 for £1m.
