Brazil is home to some of the most mythical and prestigious clubs in global football. Sao Paulo, Vasco da Gama, Flamengo, Corinthians and Santos all evoke thoughts of magical skills and mysterious players.

Yet, away from the European stereotypes – which is the most popular side for fans inside the country?

5th: Palmeiras

Sao Paulo’s third team are locked in a relegation battle this season, but still get 4.9% of the support around the country.

4th: Vasco da Gama

The side are currently stuck in Brazil’s second division, yet they are still the country’s fourth most-loved team with 5%.

3rd: Sao Paulo

Big rivals of the teams in second place, Sao Paulo have 8.1%. Derby day in Brazil’s biggest city is a phenomenal experience.

2nd: Corinthians

The Sao Paulo-based club have closed the gap to the most popular, and now have 14.6% of the share.

1st: Flamengo

According to the survey, the country’s most popular side have 16.8% of all fans in the country.
