Toure played a key role in helping Manchester City win the Premier League title last season but he hasn’t reached the same heights this term and has often been criticised for several lacklustre performances.

However, the former Real Madrid boss now believes the Ivorian is approaching his best and will lead the Sky Blues to more glory this season.

“Yaya has the quality to make a difference. He had a difficult summer but every game he is getting better,” he told reporters.

City take on CSKA Moscow in their third game of this year’s Champions League campaign but will play the Russian side in a closed stadium as CSKA are currently playing their games behind closed doors due to repeated rascist behaviour.

While several stars of the Russian Premier League side have complained that the ban is harsh on them, Pellegrini doesn’t think it’s ideal for City either.

“It is a pity we cant play for fans, as this competition is for the fans,” he added. “But we dont have any other option.”
