The 26 year old England international is on loan at Fiorentina and may well have come to the attention of Serie A title holders Juventus but it’s still something of a surprise that a Etihad Stadium reject would be a player boss Massimiliano Allegri would target.
Richards was something of a bit-part player at Man City and the arrival of Bacary Sagna, to challenge first choice starter Pablo Zabaleta, all but ended the Birmingham born defender’s career at the club he has represented since the age of 13.
Since moving to Florence on a season long loan Richards has made just one Serie A start but will hope to use the Stadio Artemio Franchi side to act as a shop window for his services and would surely jump at the chance of a move to giants Juventus.
