The Saints were tipped by many to struggle this season after offloading so many of their big-name players during the summer transfer window, but new manager Ronald Koeman has bought well since then and his team currently lie in second place in the Premier League table.
More exciting additions could now be on their way, with Southampton reportedly eyeing up a move for highly-promising Palermo striker Dybala, who has been compared with Manchester City star Sergio Aguero.
The 20-year-old has been in fine form this season, registering two goals and two assists in nine appearances this term to put himself on the radar of some top clubs.
Dybala’s current contract with the Italian side expires at the end of this season, and it could be that he will head to the St Mary’s Stadium on a free transfer next summer, or on a significantly reduced fee this January.
Dybala could make a useful addition for Koeman’s side, with key striker Jay Rodriguez being linked with a £20m move to Tottenham Hotspur.
