After a fantastic 2013/14 season which saw him score seven goals by this point, Toure’s form in the new campaign has been relatively poor.

With just one goal in the Premier League so far, the powerful midfielder’s performances have been lacklustre and uninspired.

Pellegrini has defended his star however, stating the importance of Toure to the club and ruling out a sale any time soon.

City travel to a QPR on Saturday where the Chilean boss will be hoping to pick up a much needed three points.

The Hoops are struggling down at the bottom of the table, but have hit a patch of form in recent weeks.

Toure will have a chance to atone for his red card against CSKA Moscow in midweek, and will surely be hoping to bounce back against Harry Redknapp’s side.
