Merseysiders quoted £4m if they want to sign Benfica right-back Maxi Pereira
Rodgers is looking for a replacement for Glen Johnson – who is out of contract next summer – and has identified this Uruguay international.
However, the Portuguese champions have told the Northern Irishman it will cost £4m to sign the 30-year-old – who is also a free transfer next summer, according to the Mirror.
Pereira is also wanted by Turkish pair Besiktas and Trabzonspor and FC Barcelona defender Martin Montoya could be an alternative.
