The St James’ Park side, who are currently without a permanent manager, want to bring in the 20 year old Frenchman until the end of the current campaign though will have to fight Olympiakos and Udinese who also court the youngster.
The former Caen man moved to AC Milan in 2012 and was considered one of the hottest prospects in European football but things haven’t work as he would have like since moving to the Italian giants and the talented forward may well look to leave for pastures new.
Niang hasn’t started a Serie A fixture this term and could well be surplus to requirements if boss Pippo Inzaghi doesn’t see the French Under 21 international as part of his long term plans.
