Striker has been offered an eye watering £22.5 million contract.

The club have reportedly offered the Senegalese a three year deal worth over £150,000 per week – a wage that would put him on par with the likes of Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.

The transfer would see his current £30,000 a week salary at St James’ park increase five fold overnight if he were to sign for the side managed by former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson and see him pocket £7.5m a year, reports Independent.

Cisse is in the last 18 months of his contract and the Tyneside club could be prepared to sell the striker who they bought for just £8m in 2011 with the striker himself recently admitting he could be tempted to join Swansea City to replace the now Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony.

It would be a remarkably and quite frankly staggering move from the Chinese side if they were to give the Senegal forward, who is currently at the African Cup of Nations with his national side, a contract on par with football’s highest earners when he has scored just 32 goals in 87 Premier League matches.

Though whether Newcastle would sell the striker who has been so key to their turnaround in fortunes this season is as yet unclear.
