The San Siro forward has struggled with form and fitness over the past 18 months but even so it would be surprising if Roberto Martinez managed to lure the Italian international to Goodison Park.
Martinez may well hope to line-up El Shaarawy with record signing Romelu Lukaku and could well do with strengthening his attack after a less than glorious Premier League campaign this far this term.
Everton saw Eto’o move to Sampdoria earlier this month and the Toffees have managed just three goals in their past six Premier League fixtures and are currently in the bottom half of the table.
El Shaarawy netted 19 goals in the 2012/13 season but has managed just two goals in the past two campaigns and may be ready for a fresh challenge though that may lie somewhere other than Goodison Park.
