The Conservative leader has made it clear that British police will be involved in the attempts to find the offending parties, assisting the French constabulary. This is just the latest of a history of racist incidents from supporters of the London side.

The PM said on LBC radio, “It’s obviously potentially a criminal offence and so I’m sure the French police will be looking at it very seriously. I know the British police will give every assistance that they can. I’m sure Chelsea will co-operate with that fully. These are very, very serious matters.”

The video of the incident emerged after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with PSG in the French capital on Tuesday evening. Branislav Ivanovic opened the scoring for the visitors before Edinson Cavani equalised. It is likely that Jose Mourinho will be happy with the result, having grabbed an away goal before the return leg at Stamford Bridge.
