The Uruguayan has apparently fallen out Black Cats director of football Lee Congerton and the presence of his son, Diego, in the Upton Park side’s squad is said to be a possible reason for a possible move to replace Allardyce.
The 60 year old Hammers manager’s contract expires in the summer and there is growing speculation that a new deal will not be offered, despite Allardyce steering the East London side into the top ten.
Whilst Allardyce’s future is indeed uncertain it would be fairly odd if West Ham were to look to Poyet to replace the former Bolton boss given his relative lack of success at Sunderland.
His Black Cats side sit just above the relegation zone.
