The talented young Argentine has been strongly linked with Chelsea and other top clubs in recent times, and it could be that this clause would invite a number of bids for his services over the summer.

Chelsea already have quality options upfront, but could use Icardi as a long-term replacement for veteran forward Didier Drogba, who may not play on beyond this season.
