The majority of the group at Anfield have already won numerous caps for the national side, while others are certain to feature for the Three Lions in many years to come, but how would this English contingent fare under Brendan Rodgers?
GK) Lawrence Vigouroux
With the current senior goalkeepers of Australian and Belgian descent, Vigouroux has to be plucked from the youth team. Signed from Tottenham last summer, only problem is he wishes to represent Chile at a World Cup.
RB) Glen Johnson
England’s first choice right-back for many years until recently being displaced by Nathaniel Clyne. Although Johnson’s defensive capabilities can always be called into question, his attacking instincts saw to him win over 50 caps for his country.
CB) Andre Wisdom
CB) Lloyd Jones
Another one plucked from the u-21 set-up, Jones has yet to make his first team debut for the Reds but has represented the national side at youth level and has enjoyed loan spells with Cheltenham Town and Accrington Stanley this season.
LB) Jon Flanagan
One of the surprise performers last season, Flanagan played a key role in Liverpool’s late season push towards the title, form which helped him earn his first England cap against Ecuador in the build up to the World Cup last summer.
