The 20-year-old’s representative has claimed that a new contract won’t be signed, even if the Reds offer as much as £900,000 a week!

He said: “He is definitely not signing. He’s not signing for £700, £800, £900 thousand a week. He is not signing. My job is to make sure I do the best with them (my clients). If people say I am bad at my job, or they are badly advised it does not matter.”

This has caused the Anfield hierarchy to take a hardline stance on the matter. It was planned that manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Ian Ayre would be meeting with Ward on Friday to discuss the youngster’s future. However, with the agent clearly so against staying on Merseyside, Ayre has informed all parties that there will no longer be a discussion.

It would seem that the England international’s place at Liverpool is becoming more untenable by the day. Even fans booed him when he won the club’s young player award this week, and surely a move is beckoning for the forward?
