Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has revealed he will have personal talks with Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke over the possibility of a switch to Anfield this summer.
The Belgian shot-stopper is keen to see the Reds bring in his fellow countryman, who has a £32.5m release clause in his contract and who is known to be attracting interest from several top clubs.
The likes of Chelsea and Manchester United have also shown some intent in snapping up the in-form 24-year-old, who would no doubt make a fine addition up front for Liverpool, who need to improve on the likes of Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert in that position.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Mignolet would welcome a move for Benteke, and admits he plans to ask the player if he knows about the club’s interest and what his future plans are.
“I’m going to talk with Benteke about the Liverpool rumour,” he revealed.
“It would be fine to have three Belgians at the club.”
Mignolet would like more Belgians at Liverpool, and is also looking forward to welcoming Divock Origi to the club next season.
