The Uruguay international faced the media on Thursday and appeared to confuse Jamaica for an African country when speaking about the playing style of the Reggae Boyz.

The Caribbean nation are special invitees at the 2015 Copa America tournament and have been placed in a tough looking group alongside Uruguay, Paraguay and an Argentina outfit captained by Lionel Messi.

However, Cavani would take to social media and offer his apologies to the Jamaican team whilst clarifying his comments via a message on his official Twitter account:

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer and reports in Metro Sport have claimed United boss Louis van Gaal is preparing to bid £60million for the striker, who bagged 18 league goals and scored in both cup finals in a trophy-laiden season for PSG.

But with Cavani and Uruguay expected to do well at the South American tournament, any news in regards to his future is likely to be announced after its completion.
