The Daily Express has linked the 24-year-old to Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea, but the big name trio won’t be impressed by this. Both Benteke and Everton ace Romelu Lukaku were accused of not being mobile enough by the 46-year-old.

He said: “We are a bit disappointed. The first half was good, but we’ve given away a goal and that made Wales stronger. I changed my system afterwards, because Benteke was isolated.

“I then played with two strikers, but they need more crosses. We asked them to get to the front post, but they stand there like two poles. We still have work to do.”

With the Anfield and Old Trafford based sides needing extra dynamism up front they could be especially worried about this criticism. Blues boss Jose Mourinho also expects his forwards to constantly put pressure on defenders, so a lack of movement may put him off as well.

The interested parties will be hoping that this isn’t a true indicator of the striker’s ability. They will be wanting to sign the player who scored 13 goals in the last 16 games of last season to save the Villans from the drop.

The former Genk man has also netted 49 times in 101 matches over the last three campaigns, so it is likely that this was just a bad game for the Belgian. With his release clause set at £32.5m according to Sky Sports, he will certainly have to be top class in order to justify any potential fee.
