Former Arsenal striker rejects £21.4m West Ham transfer

La Liga forward has no interest in Upton Park switch.

Real Sociedad forward Carlos Vela has reportedly turned down the chance to sign for West Ham according to the Daily Express.

The 26-year-old has proven a success in Spain since leaving Arsenal for Real Sociedad in July 2012, after a successful loan spell, netting 51 goals in four La Liga campaigns.

West Ham were apparently ready to stump up the £21.4m needed to trigger the Mexican international’s release clause but Vela wishes to remain at the Basque outfit.

Newly appointed Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has already been very active in the summer transfer window, bringing in Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang and French winger Dimitri Payet.
