The 26-year-old has proven a success in Spain since leaving Arsenal for Real Sociedad in July 2012, after a successful loan spell, netting 51 goals in four La Liga campaigns.

West Ham were apparently ready to stump up the £21.4m needed to trigger the Mexican international’s release clause but Vela wishes to remain at the Basque outfit.
