Arsenal manager has phoned Real Madrid star to discuss transfer, says Spanish journalist

At the beginning of the month, the Mirror reported that, despite having three years remaining on his current contract, the France international was offered a new deal – although his wage demands saw negotiations over an extension break down.

The newspaper went on to claim that Lacazette had allegedly been given the green light to leave the Stade de Gerland this summer, as a result of the breakdown in contract talks, and Lyon had reportedly ‘offered’ Arsenal his signature for just £21m.

In an update on the speculation, according to the Independent [via the Daily Star], last season’s Ligue 1 top goalscorer has his heart set on an exit in the coming weeks, and is considering handing in a transfer request to force a move away after growing frustrated with Les Gones’ reluctance to listen to offers – despite suggestions that the club were willing to sell.

The Daily Star state that four Premier League sides are keen on the 24-year-old – the Gunners, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United – while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have too been credited with interest [via the Liverpool Echo].

Only Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo (48) and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi (43) scored more than Lacazette’s 27 goals last season – making it little wonder that he has caught the eye of a number of European giants.

While Arsenal have been heavily linked – as the report stated earlier – it was said today that Arsene Wenger has personally contacted Santiago Bernabeu star Karim Benzema about a possible move to the Emirates this summer [via The Telegraph].
